Ive been experiencing slow shutdowns on my rmbp for most of its life and its not a huge deal. I just could never find a solution until now.
Go into system prefs.. click on iCloud and then "sign out" to disable it. After I did that my shutdown times are under two seconds. I just had a sub one second shutdown that didn't even make it to the grey screen.
Some of you may use icloud but may just want to try this to see if its whats causing your slow shutdown times.
