slow shutdown under leapord

Ever since leapord my computer has been taking a really long time to shutdown. During shutdown I get that circling thing that normally only appears at startup.

Does anybody know how to fix this? I've tried repairing permissions and the 10.5.1 upgrade didn't help.

I'm running a CD2 macbook pro. 2gigs of ram
