Ever since I got 10.7.5 update. Everything was well until a week later (2 days ago), when I was holding the option key when I turn on my mac, it stayed white for like a min or two before it shows my disk selection. It used to be only like 5 seconds to show my start-up disks. This is getting painful for me since I use both OS's a lot.
The only partitions I have is Macintosh HD, Bootcamp, and Recovery HD.
I also noticed that backing up via time machine has now been impossibly slow too (even though this has nothing to do with the topic, it seems related to the harddrive been slow or something like that from the new update).
