Hi.. login' in to my powerbook seems to take longer than it should. The Apple Logo and Finder options quickly line up on the left, but the spotlight, Username Airport etc on the right take about 30 seconds to 1 minute to show up. Why?

Also, my trash keeps showing up with folders labeled "Recovered Files", sometimes repeated with 1 or 2, etc. Inside is some randomly named _xx41c6.tmp file and the like What are these? What do I have that's causing this?

I'll try repairing permissions now, but I'm wondering what other advice you can throw me. THANKS!

Duff-Man says...the "recovered files" is normal - don't worry about it, it is new in 10.4.x. As for your slow login...try the usual things - repair perms and try another account on your computer - make one if need be (always handy for "testing" things like this) - and see if it logs in slowly as well....that will help narrow it down to the computer/network or your user account....oh yeah!
