So after searching the web for a solution for the slow wifi on my 2015 13" rMBP, all I came up with were issues related to Yosemite (which I am running). I tried a few of these but they didn't help.

Now the reason why I'm asking is because I also have a 2013 11" MBA also running Yosemite, and wifi transfer speeds are lightning fast on my home network. Speedtest.net shows 70MB/s down vs 20MB/s for MBA and MBP respectively. But more worryingly when downloading identical files, I'll get ~5Mbytes/s vs ~500Kbytes/s between the MBA and rMBP respectively.

This clearly points to something related to the rMBP hardware/software. Also I stream using an apple TV and also have other mobile devices connected to the network which also work smoothly.

Both the MBA and rMBP are using Automatic in the Network settings (I tried using the Google DNS, as well as some other local DNS servers on the rMBP but neither really helped). It seems that if it's the much touted Yosemite problem, then surely I should be getting the same issues on my old MBA?

Any ideas what could be going, or recommend links with solutions to try?

Thanks.

Edit: I have reset SMC as well.

Edit: May have found a solution by killing the discoveryd process on the rMBP.
