Hi all,

I'm having a bit of a WiFi nightmare in my house.

Some background information first: I live in a small bungalow with the router sat roughly in the middle. I currently use a Belkin N600 Dual Band router. This router was purchased roughy 3 years ago to replace our existing BT Home Hub 3 (which was also having WiFi issues and requiring daily reboots.)

Now the issue we have is that at random points of the day the WiFi speed will drop to an usable speed. This can be in the afternoon, or late at night, it is a random occurrence. I have tried rebooting the router many a time, resetting it to factory settings, as well as setting up the devices that have 5Ghz WiFi on to that band, yet i'm still having issues. The majority of the devices in the house are Apple. We have 3 iPads (2 x iP Air 2 and 1 iP pro) My rMBP, 2 smart TV's and several iPhones.

The speed drop however is not consistent on all the devices, for example, my speed can be at crawling speed on my Mac, yet my iPad next to it can be getting an okay, but still not great speed. I know it is the WiFi because if I do a speed test on my PS4 which is connected to the router via ethernet, I will get the speeds I should be getting.

Our ISP promises speeds of up to 75mbps down and 15 mpbs up.

I am at a bit of a loss at what to do now.

I had similar issues and changed routers a few years ago which resolved the issue. Last year I moved ISP to BT and HomeHub6. No issues at all now! Ask BT for HomeHub6 perhaps? Good luck!
