So I have a small business network with 8-10 computers and an XServe running 10.6.3

It's fine on every machine except one; my boss's iMac. For some reason, when he tries to connect to the server (boilerroom.local) through a Finder window, it takes minutes.

If I connect to the IP through Command+K, it's instant.

Now, when I look at the AFP log, the only difference I see is this:

"Login 38greene" -5023 0 0
"Logout 38greene" - 5023 0 0

==These are attempts from Shared in a Finder window==

"Login 38greene" 0 0 0

==From Command+K to afp://192.168.1.100==

If I Command+K to "boilerroom.local" I get the login prompt immediately, BUT it still takes minutes.

The difference seems to lie in connecting via hostname, or via IP address. Does anyone know what setting on the iMac could be effecting this?

The only difference I can see is the -5023 - does anyone have any idea what that number refers to in the AFP log?

Thanks!
