Not sure if this is the right section to post in but it kind of transcends a few topics so ♂️.
Bit of background.. I came from an X and S3 watch to an XS and an S4 LTE watch. Initially, I was on an XS Max then I switched to an XS which had the dreaded cellphone service problems so swapped it out.
I've noticed since getting all my new gear that Siri is incredibly slow to do what he is told unless I'm on WiFi. If I tell my watch to play music on my phone via Apple Music or do anything at all, I get the "I'll tap you when I'm ready" message and it may be a good 20 seconds before it actually does anything. Even setting a reminder. Anything. On WiFi, it's instant. On the phone LTE with full bars, it's painfully slow. My old S3 was lightning fast at this on Watch OS 5.
If my phone is plugged into my car using CarPlay and I ask Siri to play a song on Apple Music, it used to be lightning fast. But on the new equipment, EVERY SINGLE TIME, it's slow. Either I get "One sec" and the music plays after ten seconds or (and this is more often than not), I get "Hmmm.. there was a problem. If you are not on WiFi, try using mobile data" or something like that.. the song has loaded but it's just not playing and I have to go to Now Playing and manually hit play which isn't ideal when driving in heavy Los Angeles traffic every single time.
Everything used to happen instantly on my old gear but not anymore. And this has been the same when using the watch or the phone and when using three different models (the Max, the problematic XS and the replacement XS) so it's clearly not tied to any particular individual piece of equipment. But it can't be an iOS 12 issue either because I don't running the beta of that on my X from June with no issue (I'm on the regular release, not the beta on my XS).
Wondering if anybody else has had this issue and can offer a solution please? I realise it is the very definition of a first world problem.. but it's irritating to feel that new equipment has gone backwards in performance in this sense.
