I recently just upgraded my mbp to 4gb of ram, however, I noticed that my startup are now taking longer than before. So is this normal?

Before 4GB Ram, took about 15-20 sec.
After 4GB Ram, took about 30-40 secs.

The machine does a cursory check of the RAM at startup - twice the RAM = twice the time needed for that portion of startup.

Contrary to popular belief, additional ram does not speed up startup times (startup is mostly influenced by the number of processes that are being opened (including Startup items, Widgets, Finder modifications, background programs, etc) and by the hard drive performance.
