Just called AT&T and they sent in the form for an unlock
bought the phone off my friend who just got an upgrade, took me 3 calls to get someone who didnt ask for the SS # of the account

I was told 72 hours... that was 12 hours ago and it has been a very long, painful 12 hours.

Didn't help that I also had a few deliveries to look forward to for today... the anticipation nearly stopped time for me.

Hmmm I have done 3 and all 3 were unlocked immediately.. Just had to restore with itunes and BAM works! (E-mail was sent before I even got off the phone with the rep.)
