So I'm trying to test if it would be feasible to use an Iridium satphone as a modem on my 2018 MBP for text/email/Telegram messages. The connection is only 2.4kbps but it should be possible. I'm testing using Network Link Conditioner and it seems to work down to ~10kbps but below that it won't connect to anything at all, can't even send a one word SMS message. Everything just times out before it can load. The actual wifi signal indicator drops in and out. Is there anything I need to change or reconfigure here to stop it from timing out on an absurdly slow connection?

I would think that 2.4Kbps should be fast enough to do something.

Actually, at least a few years ago, I know that you could play WoW using a dial up connection.

The latency was horrible, but it worked.

You are working with slower than dialup, but sending a one word text shouldn’t take much.
