SLS 10.6.1 public wiki requiring login

First time SLS 10.6.1 wiki seter-upper.

I'm trying to setup a publicly readable wiki with a calendar. Without the calendar the wiki works fine. As soon as I add the calendar checkbox, and not even adding anything into the calendar, and try to access the wiki site without being logged in, this is what I get.

The user name or password you entered for area "/Search" on www.myserver.com:80 was incorrect. Make sure you're entering them correctly and try again.

I can see in the sidebar that it's trying to load the "What's Coming Up" block (or whatever it says there for calendar events). So the wiki is trying to access any events on the calendar, but it seems that it needs a logged in user to do this.

Any ideas?

One "fix" I found, though it kind of defeats the purpose in some other ways I think, is to set Server Admin/Access/Services tab, select iCal, and select Allow all users and groups.

Sounds like a security whole to me. Or is it?
