I have, for the last 2 weeks, been switching back and forth between a first gen iPhone running 1.1.4 and a 3G running 2.1 and have noticed that the 3G is significantly choppier and slower (UI) than 1.1.4. I've timed a few functions:

3G "settings" takes between 6 and 8 seconds to load.
1.1.4 takes about about 1.5 seconds

3G "SMS" takes between 4 and 7 seconds to load.
1.1.4 takes about 1.4 to 1.6 seconds to load

3G "Photos" takes about 4 seconds to load
1.1.4 takes about 1.5 seconds to load

Both phones have the same content on them.

Also, scrolling through photos on 3G is choppy where the 1.1.4 phone is perfectly smooth. Quick changes between functions (for example going from "settings" to "mail") tends to choke the 2.1 phone whereas the 1.1.4 has no slowdown.

Can anyone report similar times on their 3G with 2.1 or does it seem quick and responsive?

Comparing the two (at least in my case) the 1.1.4 phone is so much more responsive and instantaneous but the 2.1 seems bogged down.

I'd really love to hear if other people are experiencing similar load times on their 3G.

Thanks in advance for the input!

I don't have any experience with the 3G, but going from 1.1.4 to 2.1 has been frustrating. Wish I had stayed with the jailbroken 1.1.4, sometimes just trying to type out a text can take what seems like a year, taking a picture takes another year. Everything runs slow. Not happy!

im glad you asked this

my phone came with 2.0

can someone do a a 1.0 vs 2.1 comparison video ?
