My iMac (350 MHz G3, OS 9.2.2) has been sluggish for a while, especially when browsing with IE (v. 5.1.7). For example, whenever I open a web page (say, I want to use a dictionary at www.onelook.com), the Mac seems to be busy after the page loads, and I must wait quite a while before it allows me to type information into a field on the web page. This was happening mostly with IE; NS (v. 7.02) didnt seem to have such problems.
For the past few days, the menu bar in IE has been messed up: None of the menu items appear -- the bar is filled with garbage symbols. Today, I decided to use NS instead, but now NS suddenly wont launch: It begins to load, but then hangs, with the clock icon spinning, and spinning, and spinning...I must force quit and reboot.
Ive had disk problems recently (more frequently than usual). However, fortunately Ive been able to repair them with TechTool Pro. Currently, both TechTool Pro and DFA report that the disk is OK.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
