My new Macbook Pro 13 seems to have a very sluggish Wi-Fi connection. The puzzler is when I boot into Vista (via Bootcamp), the Wi-Fi is fine.
Even those "highly scientific" web-based speed tests sites show this. In OSX, I get around .9 Mbps downloads. In Vista on the SAME machine, I get well over 15 Mbps downloads. Both OS installs are using the Firefox browser.
So, it's got to be a problem with OSX in this model. I'll do some more testing with other Wi-Fi access points, but so far, I think there's an issue here. Maybe OSX 10.6 will fix it?
My old black Macbook 13 which I replaced didn't have this problem using the same equipment.
I have a Linksys WRT54G v5 router. It's been very stable for me for years otherwise, and none of my other Wi-Fi equipment is experiencing the problems I have been noticing on my Macbook Pro 13.
Any others have similar experiences?
