i wanna know how to do that smackbook stuff on my macbook. does anyone have instructions? i need some help

its software that when you hit the computer it switches to another app smart one

I'm sorry, but to use that kind of an app is plain stupid. Watch, it will break, Apple wont service it, and you'll bitch and moan on here.

Does anyone know why apple even puts accelerometers in their laptops?

Or do these kind of things just use the sudden motion sensor?

a sudden motion sensor by defintion is an accelerometer

I guess what im asking is, is there an accelerometer known as the SMS alongside another accelerometer? I know the SMS is one, I'm just wondering if that one is solely dedicated to its task while there is another one for some reason?

No, apps like Smackbook and Seismac just use the SMS. Apparently, it provides enough info for that kind of thing.

(Seismac will make your machine a seismometer, if you wanted one of those)

Wow. I can't believe people actually want to trigger the SMS when it's original intent was to prevent damage.

There are a lot of stupid people out there who don't understand what common sense is... It's almost like common sense should be a fantasy superpower...

Wait... I think there this was brought up before...

:D

And like I said before, once they break it, they will be mad at Apple for not fixing it...

Hmmm.... smacking your MacBook? Perhaps a stress-ball would be more useful.... :D

Seriously, I can't condone smacking a laptop deliberately. **shudder**

Mind you, I had fun waving my iBook around with MacSaber to demonstrate the Sudden Motion Sensor to customers. Not sure if it works with later machines.

Yea it works on the new 2009 macbook pros, so does liquidmac, and so does ispazz. i've only tried shadowbook once, but haven't really looked into it. I probably can get it to work. I'll try over Christmas break I have finals this week but i'm making the video for smackbook right now.

how to make a smackbook

HOW TO MAKE A SMACKBOOK ON SNOW LEOPARD

make a new folder on the desktop called smackbook

open up spaces preferences make sure that under "To switch between spaces" is set to ^ Arrow Keys

download the AMStracker from http://osxbook.com/software/sms/amstracker/

then download this: http://macbound.com/downloads/smackleopard.command.zip

put both the AMStracker and the first thing you downloaded into the folder that you made earlier

open that folder and right click on the item called smackleopard.command
open it with text edit

scroll down to the bottom of it and look for where it says:
if(abs($x) > 30 && $stable > 30) {
$stable = 0;
change the 30's to 25's
press file save

open terminal
type: cd /Users/username/Desktop/smackbook
press enter ^your username not the word "username"

terminal should now read: eng022:smackbook
type in: chmod +x smackleopard.command
press enter

terminal should now read: eng022:smackbook
type in: ./smackleopard.command
press enter

you now have a smackbook

optional: if you would like to use hyperspaces, it is possible.

download hyperspaces from http://thecocoabots.com/hyperspaces/
(You can download the trial which has unlimited uses or the upgraded version it doesn't matter)

open hyperspaces

go to hyperspace preferences

change your switch to next space setting to control right arrow
change your switch to previous space setting to control left arrow
you can change the number of windows to whatever number you would like i use 2 windows

Enjoy.

I wrote some applescript programs to make this easy

Check this out…after tweaking for a while i was able to make an executable file that runs the smackbook as a shell script…so it runs behind the scenes…and also an app to stop it..check it out…no terminal needed or anything, just drag to applications and run
