I am looking for a small travel friendly camcorder to use with Final Cut Pro. Need recommendation on the most compatible so interfacing with FCP is quick and simple.

Can anyone help with models you have experience with?

Price range? HD or SD?

Small Camcorder Recommendation FCP

I am hoping to pay less than two thousand U.S.$ for an HD unit.

Will be traveling overseas, so I need a relatively compact model.

Would like to have firewire for faster download and a video format that I do not have to convert and spend two hours to pull down one hour of video.

Any ideas?

The Canon HV20/HV30 would be a good choice in your price range. It's a tape-based HDV camera. FCP can edit HDV natively, so no transcoding.
