Looking for a small external drive for audio recording and storing those jam pack buggers that otherwise clutters my tiny MBP harddrive (100 GB).

I usually just record one or two tracks at once in 24bit audio then load up some stock effects from Logic. I travel back and forth from the Studio quite a bit so a mobile external is nice. Also needs to be quiet since I mic up things in the same room as my computer.

The real question is would a 5400rpm FW400 drive be sufficient for my needs? In that case I'll probably go with a LaCie mobile because I can get them pretty cheap over here (http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?pid=10558).

Other than that the OWC Mercury OnTheGo (http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/on-the-go) got me really drooling as it got all the bells and whistles (7200rpm, FW800, and still beeing tiny and pretty sleek). But it will cost almost twice the amount of the LaCie disk for the same storage.

Thanks!
