Was reading about the issue described here over at TUAW, and decided to see if my own iPhone 4 had the same issue.

Turns out, it does. And just in that one corner.

Are they all like this? I could not find any threads on it, but if there already is one could you please provide a link?

Thank you.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A306 Safari/6531.22.7)

No that is definitely not normal. I would take it back, as was mentioned above.

Ok - thank you. That pic is from the article, but mine is basically the same. I can't take a pic of mine while at work..

Provided you aren't in New Zealand like the blogger, most certainly take it in. This might be a well-answered question, but if one had that issue and ordered from AT&T (on-line), can you take it to an Apple store or do you go through AT&T? I'm pretty sure it can be taken to an Apple store.

Just checking in case I get a phone with that issue.

OP- good luck but you should be ok to get that fixed.

Yeah, I've got the same gap. Otherwise, the phone is perfect. I'm reluctant to get a replacement if this is a common problem. I wonder if I should wait a month or two to get a replacement. That way, hopefully, Apple will have fixed this problem in manufacturing.

I received mine yesterday, and have the same issue.
I can even see the gap when holding it against a light bulb.
Also, reception goes down from 5 bars to "no service" when holding it in my left hand (4.0.2). Guess I'll have to visit my local Apple Store.
So much for the myth that newer phones are supposedly better.

I got mine replaced at the Apple Store, no problem.
The Genius showed it to her collegues, it seems like this is not really a wide spread issue.
The new one I got is perfect so far.

I received my phone last week and noticed it has this issue. If I look at it without light in the background it looks fine and I cannot fit a piece of receipt paper through it, but when I look in the light at the right angle I can see a slight gap. I wonder if every phone has this to some degree.

I went in yesterday to see if they would replace it but they said it was normal due to manufacturing. They say not all phones will have it but nothing is "perfect". They said if really wanted they would replace the rear glass for me but they didn't have any in stock at the time.
