Ok, I am sorry if this sounds like a noob question, but how can I make small gif pictures with photoshop?

I tried saving as compuserve gif and palette: web, but I am still getting around 45-50 kb per file. Even when I tried copying a gif pic with 8 kb size.

Can anybody help?

How big is your "small" GIF?

I just did a File > Save for Web & Devices on an 8 x 8 pixel file and it said the file size was ~800 bytes. On my desktop if you get Info on the file it says it's 4kb, but that's the minimum file size any file displays on a Mac.

With Gimp, I generally switch to indexed color mode and choose the minimum colors I need. Photoshop likely has a similar feature. This can greatly reduce file size.

It does. You can adjust the number of colors and a bunch of other things in the previously mentioned Save for Web dialogue (keyboard shortcut is shift+option+command+S).

Wow, thanks this is exactly what I was looking for. Now I can finally reduce my gif pics. :D
