I was at Frys Electronics the other day and saw a JVC camcorder (GZ-HD40) that's supposed to record in 1080i and export in 1080p:

Sounds too good to be true -- especially since there's no simple way to connect the HDMI port to the Mac Pro for capture. You are left with using the USB 2.0 port which I would think limits you to 1080i import as they show in this tutorial movie:

I'm not using it professionally but would like to make some 1080i or 1080p home movies that I can edit on the Mac Pro (FCP) and burn on the MCE Blu-ray burner.
Any comments on this?
