Hey guys, I know almost nothing about bluetooth speakers, aside from the basics. I have a Monster iClarityHD Speaker that I've been using for a long time (I only use it as audio out for an Apple TV that I use to watch shows very occasionally. It has worked perfectly for that. I don't know if it's a good speaker or a bad speaker, but for my uses it's perfect.
I have a new work laptop & the speakers are pretty bad. I've been trying to use the Monster speaker with it (using the 3.5mm jack so that I can keep the bluetooth connection for my Apple TV) except that it will play fine for a while and then just stop playing. I THINK what is happening is that it's playing ok over 3.5mm jack until it recognizes a bluetooth connection, and then it flips over to bluetooth & cuts out the work computer. I can't figure out a way to fix this (the speaker is Bluetooth 2.something and it doens't look like that profile allows multiple connected devices.
I'm fine with upgrading to a newer speaker, but I'd like something that I can either use with both bluetooth and 3.5mm Jacks that will somehow allow me to choose the connection (or at least give preference to the wired connection so I can just unplug when I need bluetooth) OR would allow me to connect to multiple bluetooth devices but to simply rotate between them when I need to.
Does anyone who has more knowledge of how this all works have any recommendations of what to look for? I would like to stick with a smaller/portable speaker so I can take it with me if the need ever arises.
Thanks in advance.
