I've had a couple of power failures over the past two weeks, and I usually leave the iMac in sleep mode.... Not a good combination.

Anyone have any good recommendations on a UPS that would be good for the iMac in my sig? Should be small and/or decent looking since it'll be in the family/living room.

An APC unit with AVR ... the more expensive AVR units offer protection, while the non-AVR units are just battery back-up (that may or may not work.)

I'll need one too I think, for a 24" iMac plus PowerBook G4.

Two really basic questions:

1. Does a UPS raise your electric bills? Or does it just draw the power you would have used anyway?

2. How do I correctly determine how big a UPS I need for iMac + PowerBook? (Or Mac Pro if I'm feeling spendy!)

TIA. I don't care about software support--I probably wouldn't bother with that.
