I have an opportunity to switch back to a rMBP refurb with 2.3ghz, 8gb ram and a 256gb ssd.

for what i use my laptop for, i think my existing unit is overkill in terms of processor speed and hard drive space.

i play the occasional game of civ 5, portal, hl2, snes/nes games, playstation. nothing really extravagant.

I've been dabbling with Mavericks and love the memory management, think it's a lot better than previous versions i'm running with about 5.5gb free ram with 4 tabs open, steam running and vlc player running.

My current config is in the profile below. The retina is about $300.00 cheaper and who knows maybe i'll win the refurb lottery this time around and get a mbp with 16gb.

Would it be a worthwhile change? I love the retina screen, it's amazing. I'm pretty sure i've done my research but would love to hear your opinions.
