TL/DR: If you prefer to use belt clips instead of your pockets, the Encased belt clip for the Speck Presidio Wallet Case works well with the new Smart Battery case for the iPhone XS.
Just an FYI...
I prefer to use a belt clip rather than dropping the phone in my pocket. It’s more comfortable and convenient for me to get to especially while sitting down. Also, a lot of online reviews mention that putting it in and taking out of the pocket with the Smart Battery case is difficult. My favorite case was always the Seidio Surface and it includes a belt clip, which I’ve used on my previous ~5 phones of various shapes and sizes, including the XS until the battery case was made available.
However, just recently got the Smart Battery case and none of those belt clips work because of the hefty lower body on it.
Searched the web and Amazon for a compatible belt clip and none turned up. Was prepared to do a trial and error with a few sizes when I came across the Encased belt clip for the Speck Presidio Wallet case. Lower and upper bodies of the case seemed inline with the Smart Battery Case so I took my chances on it and it works very well. The bottom corner lips and the battery hump fit perfectly together. There is a very little gap at the top where the clip secures it probably because the Speck case is a drop thinner at the top and the securing clip is not perfectly rounded. That does not prevent it from making a secure fit though. I tried tugging and pulling at it and it wont pull out. There is no movement between the case and the clip at all. Very secure. You can put the phone in and take it out of the belt clip with one hand and the hard plastic of the securing clip will not touch anything other than the silicon part of the battery case (e.g. the glass portion where the Face ID and front camera sit behind).
Not sure about the XS Max but if Presidio makes a wallet case for that, my assumption would be that it would fit just as well.
