Smart Battery Case compatibility

I was thinking about getting an iPhone 8 with the iPhone 7 Smart Battery Case. It should fit just fine but I read something the other day that made me second guess.

I thought I had read somewhere that someone put a 6S into a 7 Smart Battery Case and they mentioned it would charge but the ‘Batteries’ section on the dashboard didn’t show the Battery Case % like it normally would. Can someone confirm that is what happens when you mix Smart Battery cases and phones?

The 6s doesn’t fit in a iPhone 7 case or vice versa.

It does with the exception of the Camera being out of alignment.

However my question is less about physical compatibility but rather functional compatibility. Does it charge and does it show up in the Batteries section of the dashboard.
