Hi,

I have the retina mini, and just started noticing that when the smart cover is flush against the rear of the ipad and I separat it to close the cover on the front of the ipad, it sometimes makes a weird clicking noise as it separates from the ipad.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Yep. I have an rmini I'm returning for a yellow screen and I notice this on mine. If I move the Smart Cover across the back I hear a clicking noise almost like a loose magnet.

I thought it was the smart case magnetising the camera assembly (which rattles anyway) until I realised the noise was at the bottom.

iPad Air Similar Behavior

Likely because of the similar design I am finding that my new iPad air is doing the same thing.

It's a very audible click and I'm slow to take it to Apple as there is no consistency in replicating the clicking noise.
Thoughts?
Is this something I should be worried of?

Is it the click when the magnets from the smart cover cause the iPad to lock or unlock?

Are you sure it's not the lock sound from the cover moving and unlocking and quickly reliving the iPad?

The noise is coming from the back of the ipad. It is is definitely not the clicking sound of the ipad awakening. I also sometimes hear a clicking when the Smart Cover simply moves across the back, such as when I'm typing and the Smart Cover moves a little.

That's exactly when I hear it.
