Upgraded from an iPad 1st gen to a 3rd and restored from iCloud backup of the 1st gen. There's no option to use smart cover lock in settings though. Any ideas?

I realize the eventual fix may be to just wipe and set up as a new iPad but I want to exhaust all other options before going down that road.

On a new iPad I don't believe the option shows up until you actually install the smart cover for the first. If you don't have a smart cover you could try to use a magnet to activate

That was it. The magnet in my homemade smart cover wasn't strong enough to activate it. Once activated, however, it worked just fine.
