Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone has ordered anything from Apple and have some sort of delay? I called Fedex today and they said U.S Customs has detained my package and there is nothing anyone can do...

I can't imagine Apple shipping out a single smart cover at a time overseas. I'm guessing a red flag was raised for one of their shipments? Bad luck on your end. :(

yeah they said like a pallet? was detained...and it could take over 30 days for them to release it...this is just wrong....

You should have called apple instead of posting on the forum.

I left a message with the customer relationship specialist who has been helping me. I was seeing if anyone else on MacRumors had this happen to them.

I ordered a SmartCover from Apple.com and it got shipped yesterday (26 march) from "SHENZHEN CN" according to the FedEx page.

I hope I don't have the same problem if I do i'll give you an update. EST time of delivery is 30 March Friday.

Cancel your shipment/order if you can, and/or order another one and return the delayed shipment when you receive it.

Tom

Since you're already talking to apple tell them that FedEx quoted that customs could hold it for 30 days and you can't wait that long, see if they'll send you a replacement for free which could in turn give you a two smartcovers for the price of one.

Back in the day I ordered a microsoft mouse from apples website and they sent me the wrong one so they gave me a refund and told me to keep the mouse.

Isn't there an Apple store in Danbury? You can buy one off the shelf and cancel the other order. I've had things detained in customs before. Once an entire container of tires (I had 4 ordered) no-showed. Waited 2 months before giving up and ordering another set.

Full consignments of stuff from China is being taken off planes now and being sifted though to find counterfeit stuff. Expect to get a customs charge as well because FedEx seem to have some type of deal where they consistently get packages taken away for inspection. I recently had a couple of parcels from Hong Kong Shipped to the UK. It took 1 day to get here with an express service but got held in customs for 6 days.

It sucks but they are putting more pressure on China becuase of the import/export imbalance.

There is but I am currently not there. There is an Apple store located by where I am, but Apple was sending this to me as a "replacement case". I am not sure if they will allow me to say buy one, and then they refund me? Sigh...

My advice would be to call customer service, and explain your situation. See if they can cancel your order, and give you some sort of voucher for an in-store purchase. I'd be sure to get a case number as well, or some sort of reference number.

Apple's customer service is pretty spot on, at least in my opinion. Who knows, maybe they can get you a free replacement.

Best of luck!

I spoke to customer relations and they were hoping it would be released within 24 hours. If it isn't, they are going to do something else for me.

yeah just get a refund and go to a retail store, or even a 3rd party one. best buy, target, radio shack, even walmart sells apples smart covers

I didn't pay for the cover though, Apple was sending it out to me at no charge. Or else I would be doing that now...

Sounds to me like CHina is delaying the REAL Apple smartcovers so they can sell their cheap knock offs!

My package is located in Memphis, TN right now.

Then the papers. issued in China, were likely missing something. This is not uncommon and it should clear in a day or two. UPS goes through this all the time, you just never had to watch it!

Lol, sometimes I wish I don't check the tracking number and let a package surprise me!

I ordered the new iPad on March 14th and it just began shipping (still in china) today, March 27th, does that count?

Not really, my package shipped about a week ago and since Friday, there was a Clearance Delay on my package Fedex's site said.

Return the one you BUY separately in a retail store not the one that is delayed. When you return the one you bought just give them the sealed one you receive that was delayed. Probably better off getting it at Best Buy (if you are in the US) since they have a 30 return policy.

Ohh I see what you are saying, but unfortunately there isn't much you can do. A clearence delay is required by national law on all items coming into the US from another country, even for huge companies like apple.

You wont get a cancellation or refund before its delivered. I would order another and send back (at their expense) the delayed one.

Or go to a store.
