Do you have to have the smart cover attached to activate the setting? Because I do not have that option anywhere in my general settings page. I don't have a smart cover either though.

If you don't have a Smart Cover, you can simulate it by holding a fridge magnet or similar close to the right edge about 3/4 up when holding the device in portrait mode. This makes the screen turn off. After that, the setting appears.
