Is the leather (PRODUCT) RED Smart Cover only available via Apple.com?
Or can you get it in an Apple retail store?

Also what is Apple's return policy on Smart Covers without a receipt?

yes they ahve em at apple store

they give u a receipt when u buy one at the apple store?!?!
 
Yep - you can get Product Red items (including the smart cover) at most Apple Stores.

No idea on their return policy though. Give them a call and ask?
 
I have seen all of the smart covers at The Apple Store. At Target they seem to mostly have the vinyl ones.

They do, but I have a green smart cover I bought a few days ago.. I don't have the receipt but I'd like to return it and pay the extra $30 for the Product red smart cover. They don't carry the red one at Walmart/Best Buy/etc.

Only seen it at Apple.com so figured the retail store might stock it. :p

u lost the receipt? well they migt let u exchange.

u really want to spend 80 dollars on a cover?!?!?!
 
It's $69, and the leather just feels much higher quality. I have a black iPad with a black leather smart cover. It's pretty sweet.

Having said that, I do feel it is horrifically overpriced.

Honestly, most iPad/iPhone related products (cases, sleeves, covers, etc.) are typically overpriced. Retailers and manufacturers make such a killing off it.
 
I was looking for the red at best buy but settled for the black... Didn't realize it was through apple only. The smart cover is a rip off, but I didn't see any slim front covers I cared for
 
Just buy it from eBay or craigslist. I got the tan leather onee, brand new for $40. Paid the full $70 for a black leather one when the iPad 2 came out..way too much money.
 
Look carefully at the red ones. The stain quality can vary.

I returned mine for a black.

As I was leaving I looked through the reds and did see a big variation.

I purchased the red one with my new iPad and have yet to open it. That $69 could be used to go from 32GB to 64GB.

I believe 14 days is the return policy for Apple.
