one thing I have never understood, is why these are hinged on the left hand side.

Firstly in portrait, it's going all against the convention established some time ago in the form of 'books' where one opens them left to right.

Secondly in landscape, for the majority right handed community you want the home button on the right and to open the cover bottom to top.

The only redeeming feature is if you have the cover in 'stand' mode, then the button is in the right place, but surely this is a rare use case compared to holding it with the cover wrapped around the back.

I reckon they should switch to the right or better still, give us the choice somehow.

Is it just me?

(Or I could just turn it over I suppose)

What are you talking about? It does open like a book while in portrait orientation, and therein lies the answer to your question.

It opens like a book. Idiot.

I'm genuinely confused here. Are you responding to yourself??

I don't understand what you mean by opening it like a book. It already opens like a book. If the cover was on the other side, it would be like opening a book from the back.
Unless he's Arabic?

They read right to left but dunno if they also reverse the opening.

Or Asian. Anyone who reads Japanese manga likely knows that the books are read backwards, from a Western perspective. But I assumed that even if he's from one of those places he would know that Apple is an American company.

Why not just turn the iPad upside down then?

Yes indeed.

Funny thing, I've just been warned by the mods for calling myself an idiot.

I apologise for any offence I've caused myself.

I blame the post Brexit, Trump led world.
