I have a smart folder set up which contains recent documents - those used in the last three days.

This sits on my desktop, and works properly, and can be accessed from my Finder sidebar - again working correctly.

However, if I try to attach a recent file in Google Mail, then when I use "Attach File" and then browse to the same Recent smart folder it appears empty - all other folders contain their usual files.

Any ideas why this isn't working properly?

Thanks in advance.

What web browser are you using?

Smart Folders don't actually contain any files, being essentially a canned search, so your browser might not be handling the folder properly in the file attach dialog. Safari should do this properly.

Thanks for the thought. Am using Firefox so have just tried Safari and, unfortunately, still no joy.

safari worked for me...

I created a shared folder for all files within the last day on my desktop.

using safari> gmail > attach file

browsed to desktop>TESTfolder

and it worked.... all search files showed up.

Here's what i'd try... test with each step and stop when it works.

create a new Smart Folder. test it.
repair your disk permissions.. APPLICATIONS>UTILITIES>DISK UTILITY. test it.
Installing the 10.5.5 combo update on apple.com/support. test it.
Create a new user SYSTEM PREFs>USERS>plus button(bottom left)
Create a test folder. test it.

if ALL that doesn't work... i'd backup and re-install the OS cause you're ****'s wack ;)

Good luck!

Working a treat after recreating and repairing permissions! Thanks very much for your help.
