I have setup a Smart Folder to show all files that I have opened in the last 7 days. However, I do not want it to include files from a particular folder. Does anyone know how to exclude a folder/file from a Smart Folder search?

Im not 100% sure, but i believe smart folders are based on Tiger's Spotlight. If it is go into system preferences --> spotlight and under the Privacy tab add folders that are not to be seen in the searches.

You can also specify which places the smart folder is to search by using the "Others..." in the locations field. Maybe not as good as the possibility to say "search everywhere but here", to do that follow DeSnousa's advice, but if you still want Spotlight to search everywhere you can specify just where the smart folder is to look...

Man I need coffee. It's 2 in the afternoon and I need coffee...
