I am looking for a keyboard that can serve as a protective case as well (Ipad is going to be in a backpack with heavy laptop and some other stuff) - I do not want it to get bent or scratched. It is important to be able to use the ipad in tablet mode when connected to the case - therefore Magic Keyboard is out of question. While keyboard is handy, I do not plan at the moment to use the ipad as a laptop replacement, hence I am willing to accept limited functionality on this side. Being able to take notes, especially on the go (bus, etc) is much more important to me.
Here are my questions.
1. Does smart keyboard folio offer enough protection from "backpack damage"?
2. Does extra weight of folio touch make the use on the go cumbersome? Or it is still good enough?

You don't mention which iPad you have, but I'd also take a look at the Logitech Combo Touch keyboard cases that have detachable keyboards, smart connectors and great function keys. I have one for my iPad Air and it's just fantastic. I tried a couple of Apple keyboard cases and didn't like the material and felt, in particular, the SKF was kind of flimsy.

I have order the 11'' pro version. I looked into Logitech Combo, however it is not available in my country, and was listed as 'out of stock' on amazon. Therefore, it is not an available option for me. Folio is the only one I can get. Otherwise, I'd probably get the combo.
