im trying to create a Recently added smart playlist in my ipod that only contain musics, and not videos.

i copied the recently added playlist in the itunes playlist and added:

Kind contains Purchased AAC audio file
and
Kind contains MPEG audio file

then the list is blank. if i remove one of the kind i added, the other kind files show up, but together, it's blank.

any advise??

It might be looking for files that are both. Set the option at the top to any of the following rules.

EDITED: original post was incorrect.

no the "and" is just me typing in the forum.
in itunes, there's "Kind CONTAINS..." or "kind IS...".
i choose CONTAINS but it didnt work with IS either.

ADD: and if i select ANY instead of ALL, it bypass the Recently added in the last 2 months rule.

If you select match "all" for the rules, and you have two entries for "Kind", both entries for "Kind" must match or it won't display an item. Since the kind can't contain both "Purchased AAC audio file" and "MPEG audio file", nothing will display.

This should be pretty obvious.....

Than I'm not sure what else you could do. Apple could make their smart playlist options much more advanced, but they are probably wanting to keep it as simple as possible. I've run into similar problems trying to make smart playlists as well.

Actually, there is a much easier way to do this.

ALL:
  • Playlist IS Music
  • Date Added IS IN THE LAST 2 weeks

That should do the trick.

wfarr's will include music videos, which you dont want.

It should look similar to this:
