Smashed my phone - need a little clarification on SHSH blobs

Ok so i shattered the display on my iPhone 4... got a replacement from apple for the $199 deal.

From what I understand the SHSH blobs are device specific correct? So even though I "made my life easier" it's not possible to downgrade to 4.0.1 via Tinyumbrella to my old blobs since the entire device in new. Stuck till the new JB is released for 4.1. right?

You are correct, your old blobs won't work. You'll need to wait until the 4.1 jailbreak, whenever that is.

I'm surprised there's no one working on some sort of blob generator that would work in the same fashion as a keygen. Idk.. I'm not well informed on what the SHSH's actually are so maybe it's not a feasible solution.

You would need to know the algorithm Apple uses to generate them. I'm sure it's complicated.

If you could crack that algorithm you'd either be awfully rich or kidnapped by the NSA and forced to work for them.

They are a very strong RSA-encrypted hash. Without knowing Apple's private signature key, it would take tens or hundreds of years to brute-force a single signature hash. Don't think nobody has thought of this; it's simply not practicable.
