I'm having issues with a 16 inch MacBook Pro (latest model) running macOS 11.2.3 Big Sur.

Up until a few days ago, the computer was connecting fine using SMB to connect to a Windows shared server. Then out of the blue, the connections stopped. Now when I try to connect, I get "There was a problem connecting to the server "server name here." It goes on to say that the server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and try again." It never completes the connection. I have tried an SMB reset, zapping parameter RAM, re-setting the network connection, all to no avail.

The problem occurs with the Mac using both wi-fi and ethernet connections to the network.

Any ideas on what might be wrong that will not allow the connection to go through? I appreciate anyone's help with troubleshooting this!

Are you using a VLAN? Can you see the share in the Network area in the Finder? I was using an 802.1q VLAN on a machine and 11.2.2 AND 11.2.3 nerf my network settings entirely. Weirdly, creating a new user fixed the problem. Try that too to test and see if it works.
