SMB problem: Mac thinks it's connected to Windows share, but really isn't

I need help. When I shut off my Windows PC (which my Mac shares files with) then turn it back on later, my Mac refuses to connect to the Windows share, claiming that it's already connected (but it really isn't). The only fix for this I've found is logging out and back in (or restarting), which is annoying. Any ideas?

Try unmounting the share on the Mac before you shut off the Win PC.
