SMB Share problems

I'm using my 10.2 mac to connect to a PC's shares. The trouble is the PC is not always on. If I have the share mounted and the PC turns off my finder gets hung up. Do other people have this problem? Is there a solution?

Quitting the finder may help (command option esc), as may logging out (command shift Q)
