Hi all,

I keep a large media library in a set of folders on a Synology NAS, and prefer to connect to them using SMB2 rather than AFP due to improved read/write speeds. In Mavericks and prior versions of OS X I was able to drag the shares into the finder sidebar, where they would appear under "Devices" whenever mounted. I run a script on startup or with a keyboard shortcut in order to mount them.

Ever since upgrading to Yosemite, I can no longer get the SMB shares to appear under "Devices". If I connect via AFP, there's no problem. I have tried the following:

1 - disabled, then re-enabled SMB sharing from my NAS
2 - disabled, then re-enabled AFP sharing from my NAS
3 - rebooted NAS (have scheduled power on/power off)
4 - re-wrote scripts to using NAS IP address rather than NETBIOS name
5 - the obvious - unchecking/rechecking all items under "Show these items in the sidebar" in Finder preferences

I have the same issue with SMB shares from my Mac Mini running OS X Server 4.

Any ideas as to what's going on?
