Hi there

I've upgraded one of my two Mac laptops to Mavrick. The other is still on Mountain Lion. I have a Synology Diskstation NAS. The storage format is ext4, chosen because it can handle both file creation and modification dates.

However when I connect to it using SMB2, some of the creation dates in the file attributes are being displayed incorrectly. For example a photo created on 16 March 2013 has a displayed creation date of 2 May 2013. Does anyone know why that might be?

When I copied one of the photos with the problem to my Mac, using the SMB2 protocol, the file attributes then displayed the correct creation date and not the incorrect one. When I renamed this file and then copied it back across to my NAS, it then displayed the correct file creation date.

Could anyone tell me what might be causing the problem? Is due to the way AFP protocol copied my files to the NAS in the first place? I can see all the correct dates when viewing via Mountain Lion and AFP protocol but in the past I had issues with the previous version of SMB so never used it.

Now I am interested in upgrading all my Macs to Mavrick but I need to figure out how to resolve the creation date issue first.
