Hello,

I'm trying to send net send type messages from my Mac to my Windows XP. I'd use the following command in Terminal:
Code:
smbclient -M NETBIOSNAME
Replacing the NETBIOSNAME with the Desktop name of the XP Machine. However, I receive the error "Connection to [computer name] failed"

I know that the name is correct because and the computer is accessible because I use it with Mac Remote Desktop Connection.

Any ideas on what could be causing a connection error?

Thanks.

I believe sending messages this way was blocked on XP due to spamming occuring on networks, there is a way to unblock it but I am not entirely sure how to do this
