Well, I have a MacBook Pro that had battery issues on the past.

This thread have the complete history: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/power-problem-mac-book-pro-13-late-2011.2035668/

Long story short, the battery died, and with its death, broke few components, that all of then have been replaced (including a new battery).

The problem that I have now, is that the MacBook won't recognize the battery, and I can only use it with the MagSafe connected, and it is always with the green led.

Obviously, it goes slow with the CPU stuck at 800 Mhz.

Here are the things I've tested, and a few more details:

  • When trying to reset the SMC, the MagSafe led never changes color
  • When trying to flash the SMC back, the installer goes ok, but when it reboots, the apple logo appears, the progress bar appears, but it instantly reboot the computer, and does a normal boot
  • When trying to enable the option "Show battery indicator" on System settings, the indicator appears for a short moment in the top bar (less than half a second) and then it disappears.
  • I've found a way to boot it working mostly normal; it consist on pressing the same key combination to reset smc, but instead of releasing all the keys and power button, only release the keys, keep power button pressed for a little while, release it, and then pressing it again.

When doing this, the fans are always at 100%, the keyboard backlight don't work, but the MacBook works at full speed of CPU. And to make things more weird, if I took the mage safe out, it keep powered on for a little while, like if the battery charges a little bit, and it works for at least 15 minutes.

The battery was tested on another identical MacBook, and works fine on it, and the battery from that MacBook does the same problems on my MacBook that my battery does.

Any suggestions guys?
