SMCFanControl only display Left Side fan info, is the MBP at fault?

Hello,

Just bought a new base 15" MBP, running 10.6.2. At a glance, everything runs just fine. However, SMCFanControl 2.2.2 can only read "LeftSide Fan". As if the Right Side Fan doesn't exist.

Well, it could be that the app is at fault, but I worry if there is a hardware problem. Is there any quick way to check whether the right side fan is ok? (while running apple hardware test, I can hear both fans working). I don't live anywhere near Apple Stores or their related service center, so if there's any app to verify the right side fan, that would be great.

Installed Istatpro, gave the same result: can't identify the right side fan.

I don't know about the 15", but on my 13" it only detects a "MainFan" and that's it. Maybe the UMBs only have one fan? (or at least the ones without a dedicated video card)

Some of the MBPs 13" for sure but I also think the base model of the 15" only have a single fan.

Yep, 13" and 15" models without dedicated graphics only have one fan

Ah, that's good to hear. Actually, I tought that my MBP should have 2 fans because http://www.appleserialnumberinfo.com/Desktop/index.php says so. So does it mean that the site's information not accurate?
