My friend has a pretty new MacBook Pro. When he turns on and of the light (F1 and F2) it changes pretty smooth. And when I do it on my it just go down one level and stop.
Can I also get the smooth changing?
I have MacBook Aluminium Unibody Late 2008

Ahh I see. But he has really smooth. Like he is dimming the light really carefully but also really fast.

Can it be the automatic adjusting to ambient light brightness changes?
Have you asked your friend?
Have you checked the System Preferences?

Nope I cant find it :(
But when we are here, do you got the MacBook Aluminium Unibody? If so can you upload the Application disc that came with it? I've lost it and i need those iLife applications!

I have got the regular MacBook 2 discs, Mac Mini 2 discs and iMac 2 discs but not the MacBook Aluminium... And those others doesnt work! :(

lol don't bother man. your box isn't broken.

It appears that Apple changed the LED backlighting in the new Macbook Pros. My 2010 17" Backlight is sort of ridged as you describe, whereas my 2011 13" fades in and out on wake and when changing from "off" to the lowest brightness level.

No, as the contents of that second DVD are around 4GB in size.
Contact Apple and ask for a replacement, they cost around 15 to 30 USD.
