SMS back up from iphone to itunes...

I've looked through many responses to: Where is the back up of my text messages in iTunes?". All of the answers I've seen are for pc owners. I've looked in : /Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup. I see nothing. If I do find it, will the back up be as of the last sync or are there different files for each back up?

I'm looking for old text messages.

Download an application called Syphone. It allows you to view your backed up texts and even save them as a .txt file.
