Thats my hard drive is it normal for it to make a beep sound when the sudden motion sensor engages AKA when i left the laptop too fast?

I can't find anything saying the SMS has an audible alert. Does it only happen when you move the machine or does it beep when sitting still ever?

only when i move it.

Aka when the sensor should kick in.

Sorry I don't have a fix but this is apparently known:

Looks like one guy said his stopped beeping when he selected to not "park" the HD. System Preferences>Hardware>Energy Saver....unchecking "put hard drives to sleep when possible" is the closest thing I can find in OSX SL to what he said. Another said turning off SMS stopped it.

Seems to always be the Seagate drives too.

no dice, im going to bring it in for repair.

Any idea if there are other harddrives apple uses that are 7200 rpm but are not seagate?
