Sms, missed calls, voicemail notifications

Newbie here. I just purchased my iphone 3g last night and new to at&t. I was with sprint for 8 years and always had window mobile or blackberry phones.

I was wondering if is there any way to view my sms, voicemail, and missed call notifications to show up wallpaper locked screen? Also when I receive a sms it always shows what the person wrote, is there any way to disable that.

I believe the answer is no and no unless you jailbreak. Hopefully it is something Apple will add in the future.

Didn't know that. The OP's issue isn't one I have but always good to know.

The SMS preview is only disabled on the lock screen; if someone is using the phone in any other function/screen, the preview still shows up.

Cannot disable SMS preview SENDERS NAME

When u disable SMS preview, the iphone STILL sends you an SMS preview that shows the senders name! So annoying! Is there any way to stop this? Or do I have to buy a different brand of phone? Can anyone recommend a brand of phone that has the option to turn off previews? Has apple planned to include any updates that will fix this?
