Is there anyway, to have an alert, and some sort of visual notification (on the lock screen or home screen) that you have a new text message, but not show the senders, name number and message.

It's frustrating that anyone can see who is sending me messages, if they glance at my phone.

The only thing that i know is you can block the preview of the message, I am guessing you are using IOS 5, just go into Settings > Notifications > Messages > Show Preview (Off).

Thanks.. Yeah I'm on IOS 5 and I know about that one, It still displays the senders ID though.. I guess there is no way to stop this..

Not alot of options there. There are some new options in iOS5 that I think will hide the message, but do not know about the name and number. If you are that concerned about privacy your best bet is to either turn off the sms notifications, get a privacy film, or just leave the phone sitting face up.

You can also probably have that feature if you jailbreak.
